“Hey HMS, it's the final reminder for Tuesday Shoes-day! For the rest of the week, STAR will collect footwear for families in need in Africa and right here in New Jersey. Each homeroom has a collection box, so keep bringing in your gently used shoes, sneakers, sandals, boots, and anything else you can put on your feet! The homeroom with that collects the most footwear will receive the first ever HMS golden shoe award! Right now, Mrs. Kiel's homeroom is in the lead with 104 pairs collected, and Mrs. Pozsonyi's is a close second with 91 pairs! So, got kix you can nix? Donate four pairs, or five or even six! If your cleats are beat, donating them would be sweet, and you can do it til the end of the week!
There will be an interest meeting for the field hockey club this Thursday morning at 8:15 am in the main gym. If you are interested in trying a new sport, come to the meeting to learn more! If you can't make the meeting, please see Mrs. Holyoak to get a permission slip.
This Friday, February 1st is National Wear Red Day for Women. It’s time for HMS to put our hearts into it and wear something red. Heart disease continues to be the number one killer of all women, even though up to 80% of all cardiac events can be prevented. It is your chance to help spread the word about heart disease, and make sure that your friends and family can start taking the first steps to heart health.
