November 14, 2018
This is the last day for all TREATS FOR OUR TROOPS donations! So get that candy in as collection bags will be picked up at dismissal today.

Tomorrow, AWARE will sponsor a Vape-Out, in recognition of the Great American Smoke-out, an anti-smoking event that has taken place on the third Thursday of November since 1977 to encourage smokers to quit. The good news is that rates of cigarette smoking among young people have declined, but unfortunately, vaping e-cigarettes has increased dramatically. Companies like JUUL are making millions of dollars by luring kids to use their products, with slick advertising that hides the risks. All JUULs contain high levels of nicotine hidden in sweet flavorings that cause addiction and lung disease, just like regular cigarettes. Please Join AWARE in wearing black on Thursday to symbolize that we are against all forms of smoking and vaping at HMS.

November is National Novel Writing Month, and the HMS Writers House would like to welcome all creators to a general interest meeting after school today at 3:15 PM in room D-5 in the annex. The club is headed by Mr. Evans. Drop in, find out events and information related to the Writers House, and pick up a permission form. Write on.

The Math Club will be holding the AMC 8 Math Competition tomorrow, Thursday, in room D-1 after school. For more information see or email Mrs. Torre.

This a reminder that tomorrow is the last day for the Sodexo Thanksgiving food drive. Bring your non-perishable foods from home to school on Thursday and look for the drop-off bins in the cafeteria at lunch time. Our local Girl Scout Troop will help distribute the donations to the Hillsborough Food Bank to support families in need right here in our community.

Break out those flannel tops and bottoms for Flannel Friday this November 16th.

The debate club will meet today at 3:15 in the library media center. Please go to your lockers before you arrive and make sure you have a ride home promptly at 4:15.

For students who walk home, please make sure to use a crosswalk supervised by an adult when leaving the school. Students are not permitted to walk across the driveway on the apartment side when buses are present.

Hello American History Club Members! Remember our meeting today right after school in room A5. If anyone else would like to join the American History through Film club, you are welcomed to stop by today!

A new club is being run here at HMS. Have you ever heard of Magic: The Gathering? It's a popular fantasy card game played all over the world. If you are a seasoned player, or if you want to learn how to play, please email Mr. Robson or stop by room D27 in the Annex for more information.

The Math Puzzles and games club will meet today after school in Room D15. All are welcome to attend.
