The Student Assistance Program provides a comprehensive array of prevention, intervention and support services for students who may be experiencing personal, family or substance abuse related problems.  The goals of the program are to help students develop healthy coping skills, make positive lifestyle choices and avoid substance abuse problems.   The Student Assistance Counselor works in collaboration with the child’s family, teachers, guidance counselors, administration, school nurse, and Child Study Team to deliver a variety of services:

  • Individual counseling for any student
  • Support groups for students  (family issues, loss, stress management, addiction, etc.)
  • Student Mentoring Program Coordinator
  • Assessment of students who violate substance abuse policy to determine needs
  • Classroom presentations on alcohol impairment
  • Serve as adviser for peer leadership groups (REBEL, SLC, PRIDE)   Service Clubs
  • Positive school climate activities (assemblies, Red Ribbon Week, No Name-Calling Week, etc.
  • Member of BoroSafe (Suicide Awareness for Everyone)
