Congratulations to Jesse Trujillo (left), Riddhima Medatwal (right) and Taru Sankar (center) from HMS who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 2020 VFW Patriot's Pen Essay Contest for the local region that includes Hillsborough, Montgomery, and Branchburg townships.  

This year's theme was:  "What Makes America Great?"

Mr. Tom Cellilli (far left), Commander of VFW Post 8371 along with Post Adjutant Mike Schraufnagel joined Dr. Trybulski in presenting Jesse, Ridhimma and Taru with certificates of merit and a checks for $300, $200 and $100 respectively to support their future educational efforts.

Pat Pen 2020 Discussion


The VFW is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in our future generation.  The Patriots Pen competition is for students in grades 6-8.  The essay contest encourages young minds to examine America's history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by writing a 300 to 400 word essay expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW National Commander-in-Chief.
