Kids Vote - 2019
HMS Students:
To help build the habit of voting, Hillsborough Township Public Schools is holding a Kids Vote event on Tuesday, December 10th.  Important elections happen every year and can happen at times other than Election Day in November. All registered voters receive sample ballots in the mail that announce an election and provide the choices that voters can make so that citizens can research the issues and make an informed decision.

To ease the mid-winter blues, HMS will loosen the dress code every Friday in January to allow for either Pajama/Sweats Fridays OR Hoodie/Hats Fridays.  Vote for one:
  • Pajama/Sweats Fridays (Wear favorite comfy pajamas/fleece or sweats)
  • Hoodie/Hat Fridays (Wear favorite hats or hoodies with the hoods up)
On Tuesday, December 10 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., you can vote at any of the five polling places in town. Ideally, you can vote at the same time and place that your parent or guardian votes. The five polling places for the December 10 Kids Vote and referendum election are Hillsborough High School, Hillsborough Middle School, Amsterdam Elementary School, Hillsborough Municipal Building, and Mary Mother of God Church.
Citizens have rights and responsibilities, including staying informed about issues and voting. Research suggests that people across the political spectrum say voting is one of the most important ways to show good citizenship.  One vote has made the difference in many key elections
Information about how to register to vote in New Jersey is available on the vote.gov site. Homeless individuals can find resources to help with the registration process here.
If you cannot attend the Kids Vote event and still want to participate, please fill out this form by 3 p.m. on Monday, December 9.
Sincerely,
