Mrs. Williams’ 22-year career in nursing began in the cardiac unit at Hackensack University Medical Center. She would later serve as head nurse for a local eye surgery center around the same time that she and her growing family settled in Hillsborough. In 2009, Mrs. Williams joined the staff of Hillsborough Middle School as head nurse where she continues to provide daily care for more than 1,200 students and 140 faculty/staff members.
Among her many responsibilities, Mrs. Williams is an integral member of the HMS Crisis Management Team and our Intervention & Referral Services Committee working with faculty and administration to address the needs of at-risk students on a continuous basis. Additionally, Mrs. Williams heads our School Wellness Committee that provides training to faculty on vital health topics as well as sponsors school-wide activities and information sessions that promote healthy living for all. At every opportunity, Mrs. Williams works tirelessly to help students become more informed and more independent regarding their own self care.
For her dedicated service to our school community and the gentle care she dispenses every day that keeps students and staff healthy, safe, and ready for school, HMS is proud to recognize nurse Kirsta Williams as HMS Educational Services Professional of the Year 2017.
