Choir for a Cause

Outreach program for Choral students to bring music out into the community. Students will prepare music performances for specific audiences and bring the music to those community members. Students will also participate in a charity fundraiser.

HMS Drama Club
Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Presuto
After school and some Saturdays ; September-December

This year's Drama Club will be performing the mystery story Sherlock Holmes and the First Baker Street Irregular, by Brian Guehring. Auditions will be held September 24, 27, & 28 in the Music 1 room immediately after school until 4:30. Rehearsals will begin the following week on October 1. In addition to actors performing all roles in the play, students will work to create costumes, props, and sets and assist in lighting and sound. The performance dates are currently set for early December 7, 8, & 9.

Meetings are generally 2-3 afternoons a week from 3:15 - 4:30 but depending upon need and scheduling, meetings may be revised and may include before school and/or weekend meetings to build sets and props and create costumes. Listen to morning school announcements, meetings announcements, and check your email daily! There will be an information bulletin board outside C13.

HMS "ShakesPeer" Society

All interested seventh and eighth grade students discuss and perform an ambitious variety of William Shakespeare’s texts, culminating in their performances at The NJ Shakespeare Festival’s "Shakespearience: 2019" and the Teen Arts Festival. In November, they will host visiting 4th graders at "symPOEsium", during which all will celebrate Edgar Allan Poe's work. In May, they will host visiting 4th graders at the "Bard in the Boro" festival and then culminate with a “Family and Friends Night” in June.

Intermediate Region Band

Intermediate Region Band/Orchestra is open to any 7th or 8th grade student who is currently taking private lessons on their instrument. In order to be accepted into this group, there is an audition process that involves learning all major scales, a solo, and being able to sight read. This organization is run through Central Jersey Music Educator's Association and auditions and all rehearsals are held at different schools throughout central jersey. Audition materials can be obtained through the student's private teacher or the middle school band/orchestra teacher.

Jazz Ensemble

Before school ; Wednesday and Friday, period 0 ; November

Jazz Ensemble is open to all 7th and 8th grade band students enrolled in the middle school band program. Jazz Ensemble consists of saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, guitar, and drum set players. Audition material will be handed out in late October - auditions will be held at the end of November.

The Musical Theatre Troupe Pit Band is open to students enrolled in Wind Ensemble. Students will be selected to participate through an audition process held in December.

Musical Theatre Troupe produces the Spring Musical at HMS. Students are involved in all aspects of production from acting and dancing to stage management and lighting.
