Good mental and emotional health starts with good physical health. Sleep, regular exercise, eating well, doing different activities which are not on a screen, and talking with trusted adults are all important for our health. A Stanford University study involving thousands of teenagers has shown that the average amount of sleep necessary for all teenagers is nine and one-quarter hours. Lack of sleep can make us angry, frustrated, irritable, cranky, or hyperactive; you must have noticed how much better you feel when you get just the right amount of sleep for you. If you’re feeling sleepy, it might be time to go to bed a little earlier! Putting the screens away and getting good sleep will help decrease anxiety and increase focus.
Today at lunch, try a sample of a purple beet. Beets are rich in a variety of essential vitamins and minerals. Beets benefit your body in so many ways such as reducing inflammation, supporting your heart, protecting your digestive, brain, eye health and has been proven to boost endurance and aid in muscle recovery. Beets are a versatile food that can be eaten raw in salads, juiced or cooked. Try a beet today and have a healthy day!
