April 8, 2019
April is National Stress Awareness Month.
Feeling like there are too many pressures and demands on you? Losing sleep worrying about tests and schoolwork? Eating on the run because your schedule is just too busy? You’re not alone. Everyone experiences stress at times. But, there are ways to minimize stress and manage the stress that’s unavoidable.
Here are some things that can help keep stress under control:
· Take a stand against overscheduling-consider cutting an activity or 2
· Be realistic: Don’t try to be perfect-no one is
· Get a good night’s sleep
· Learn to relax (Try simple breathing exercises, yoga or meditation. Engage in activities that are calming, such as reading a good book or making time for a hobby)
· Treat your body well (get regular exercise and eat well)
· Watch what you’re thinking (try to be optimistic and think positively!)
It’s important to keep in mind that not all stress is bad. There is such a thing as “good stress”. A little “good stress” can help keep you on your toes, and ready to rise to a challenge.
So remember, while you can’t always avoid stress, you can minimize it by changing how you choose to respond to it.
Today at lunch time, try a sample of a clementine. A Clementine is a hybrid between a mandarin orange and a sweet orange. Clementine’s provide antioxidative protection which helps build our immune system. The nutrients in this fruit are B vitamins, Folate, Calcium, Iron, Potassium and vitamin C. Try a clementine today and have a healthy day!
