Are you concerned with the issue of mental and physical wellness? Do you know someone who has suffered from addiction to tobacco, alcohol or other drugs? If so, AWARE may be right for you. Advocating Wellness thru Addiction Resources & Education is a leadership group that focuses on making healthy choices by educating peers and younger students about vaping, tobacco, alcohol and drug use. AWARE will hold an information session on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7:45 AM in Room D-1.
Have you been affected by the bullying behavior - either as a victim or witness, or know someone who has? If so, PRIDE may be right for you. Peers Respecting Individual Differences Everyday is a peer leadership group that focuses on bullying prevention and creating a safe and respectful school climate. PRIDE will hold an information session on Wednesday October 3rd at 7:45 AM in Room D-1. You may email Mrs. Mahler with any questions about AWARE or PRIDE. 

Have you read the Alice series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor or The Golden Compass or Wrinkle in Time? Then you have read a banned book! Stop by the library to view other banned books that are on display.

Do you like learning about different places? Do you like competing and playing games to learn more? Geography Club is for you! We meet on Thursdays after school to prepare for the National Geographic Bee. The first meeting will be Thursday, October 4 after school in Mrs. Jefopoulos's room, D19. Pick up a permission slip from D19 by October 2 to join.

The Drama Club auditions for this year's play "Sherlock Holmes and the 1st Baker Street Irregular" are being held today and Friday from 3:15 - 5:00 sharp in Music 1. Today's audition schedule is full but there are still a few spots left for Friday's auditions -- sign up outside C13. See or email Mrs. Presuto or Mrs. Baker with questions.  

Do you LOVE to read? Do you enjoy debating information you have read about in books? Then join Battle of the Books where members read books, test their knowledge of them in a game show style, and represent HMS in the regional battle against other middle school teams. Seventh and eighth grade students interested in joining Battle of the Books should fill out the interest survey in their email or contact Ms. Styles for more information.

The first meeting of STAR (Students Together Achieving Respect) will be next Thursday, Oct 4th in Room D-29. The goal of STAR is to promote positive school climate through a variety of fun activities, and is open to all students throughout the year. The weekly meetings will be at 7:45 AM on Thursdays, but even if you cannot come every week, you are welcome to join! If you have any questions, contact Mr. Heck or Mrs. Mahler.

Science Olympiad Try-out forms are due by the end of the school day today. You may bring your forms to either rooms B4, B5, or C8. Late forms will not be accepted.
