Did you know that about two-thirds of your body is made of water? Kids and teens should aim to drink at least 6 eight ounce glasses of water a day. Water helps keep your body’s temperature stable, it carries nutrients and oxygen to cells, cushions joints, protects organs and tissues and removes wastes. Being properly hydrated helps your body function at its best. Dehydration- not having enough fluid in your body-can cause headaches, fatigue, crankiness and poor concentration. It also affects your sports performance. Water and low fat milk are the best drinks for you. They quench your thirst without giving you all the sugar and additives found in fruit drinks and juices, soft drinks, sport drinks and flavored mineral waters. So, set a goal to drink at least one extra glass of water today!
Today at lunch, try a sample of Spinach. One cup of raw spinach contains around 27 calories. Spinach is also loaded with tons of essential vitamins and minerals for our bodies.
Spinach can be eaten raw as a part of many salads, and it can also be cooked or sautéed. This can be eaten as a side dish vegetable or added to soups, stews, and casseroles. Try Spinach today and have a healthy day!

Didn’t get enough Volleyball during PE class? The Volleyball Club is coming to HMS and is looking for members who enjoy the game, want to improve their skills or just want to have fun! Please see Mrs. Pursell in the gym for a permission slip or if you have any questions.
